Sprinkler Deployment Plan - FRIAA FireSmart Program
The Town of Whitecourt, with funding support from the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA) is developing a Sprinkler Deployment Plan for the perimeter of the town.
The Sprinkler Deployment Plan will provide a comprehensive plan for structural protection sprinkler deployment including water supply considerations, resources required, high hazard values as well as other Wildland Urban Interface considerations. This plan will complement the Wildfire Suppression Guide in terms of providing a detailed sprinkler plan.
Startup is possible in September 2018 and completion is to be no later than March 31, 2019.
A joint field site visit is required by interested proponents with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (Justin Amyot or Mike Milner).
The components to this project:
- Provide a detailed sprinkler deployment plan for the Town of Whitecourt;
- Plan to include high risk areas for sprinkler deployment;
- Staged sprinkler plans;
- Water supply needs including mobile water supply and water supply staging points;
- Equipment needs;
- Staging plans;
- Resource list requirements;
- Guidelines for Structural Triage;
- Values at risk.
It is the intent that this sprinkler deployment plan will be a field usable document. The plan will provide a larger document book (2 copies) as well as a useable field guide that is laminated and sealed for fire fighter use (40 copies). Digital copies of each must be provided. Maps must be provided in pdf and shape files for future municipal use.

The Town of Whitecourt reserves the right not to consider award of any contract or purchase to any party that is engaged in litigation or arbitration with the Town within the last three yrears, or any party with an outstanding debt owed to the Town.
