Temporary changes to council and Council committee schedules and procedures during the covid-19 pandemic

A number of temporary changes have been made to Council and Council Committee meeting schedules and procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Electronic Meetings

The Town of Whitecourt now has the flexibility to conduct meetings and public hearings by electronic means.  The Government of Alberta recently enacted the Meeting Procedures (COVID-19 Suppression) Regulation to allow municipalities to hold meetings in a manner that supports social distancing recommendations from the Chief Medical Officer of Health.    Temporarily, all Council and Council Committee meetings will be held using the teleconference platform GoToWebinar.  Public members will be able to access meetings in real time by following links that will be provided on the Whitecourt website in the Event Calendar and on the Council Meeting page for all Council Meetings.

Council and Council Committee Meeting Schedule

During the public health emergency, Whitecourt Town Council and Policies and Priorities Committee Meetings will be held at 9:30 a.m. on regularly scheduled days and will be held via electronic means.  Public members will be able to access meetings in real time by following links that will be provided on the Whitecourt website in the Event Calendar and on the Council Meeting page for all Council Meetings.

Temporarily, all Regular Meetings of Council Committees (ex. Community Services Advisory Board, Municipal Planning Commission) are cancelled.  In order to continue to operate various business functions of the organization, while at the same time practicing social distancing practices, Council Committees may meet at the call of the Chair and all meetings will be held electronically.  Public members will be able to access meetings in real time by following links that will be provided on the Whitecourt website in the Event Calendar.

Public Input Session

Public Input Sessions, which are part of all Regular Council meetings and Policies and Priorities Committee meetings, will be conducted by correspondence only.  Residents can submit comments to Council by email at administration@whitecourt.ca or by regular mail at Box 509, Whitecourt AB  T7S 1N6.

Public Hearing and Regular Meeting of Council are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020 and will be held via electronic means using GoToWebinar.   Public members can access the meeting in real time by registering at the link provided below.
