Whitecourt is joining other municipalities across the province to encourage the Government of Alberta to update the recycling regulatory framework. Alberta is the most wasteful province in Canada; and, despite successful municipal recycling programs, our province sends just under 1,000 kilograms of waste per person to landfills each year, as compared to the Canadian average of approximately 700 kilograms per person. Municipalities across Alberta are joining together and calling on MLAs to champion the need for improved waste management in the province.
Doug Tymchyshyn has been appointed as the Clerk of the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB). SDAB makes decisions on appeals of subdivision or development decisions made by the Municipal Planning
Commission or Development Officers. The Board consists of six public members and one appointed representative from Town Council.
Council adopted a policy to allow for external use of the Whitecourt Fire Department Training Grounds. External agencies, such as private businesses and other municipal fire departments, will be permitted to use the training facility which is located at the Whitecourt Public Works Shop.
Whitecourt will be recognizing and thanking local volunteers at the April 19 You’ve “Bean” Great event.
