Press Release - Whitecourt Town Council Update March 27, 2019
AltaLink is proceeding with development of its Whitecourt Transmission Deferral Battery project. Whitecourt will be partnering with municipalities across western Canada to advocate for changes to proposed Bill C-69. Bill C-69, if passed in its current form, will change how major infrastructure projects, including energy projects, will be reviewed and approved in Canada. Whitecourt will be joining the Coalition of Canadian Municipalities for Energy Action, and the AUMA Resource Communities of Canada Coalition to ensure the federal government is aware of resource-based communities’ concerns about the impacts this legislation could have on communities, businesses and families.
Whitecourt will be recognizing and thanking local volunteers at the April 11 You’ve “Bean” Great event. Local volunteers are encouraged to stop by any Tim Hortons location from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. on April 11 to receive a free, large hot beverage as part of National Volunteer Week. Details can be found on www.whitecourt.ca.
