All comments received regarding the 2020 Budget will be considered by Council during budget deliberations.

The 2019-2020 RCMP Annual Performance Plan has been approved, and includes policing priorities for our community.   Priorities include: crime reduction, employee health and wellness, community engagement, and traffic safety.    This plan is prepared annually, and this fall citizens of Whitecourt and Woodlands County will have the opportunity to provide input on local policing priorities.  An online survey will launch in the coming weeks, and results of the survey will help identify community policing priorities for the 2020/2021 plan.  Watch for information promoting the survey in September.

Whitecourt’s Quarterly Financial Report for the period ending June 30, 2019 is available online for review.  The report identifies revenues and expenditures associated with providing municipal services to residents, and highlights areas of importance and success.  This report complements the 2019 Project List which was recently updated with project status for over 140 projects underway.  Visit www.whitecourt.ca to review both reports.

Whitecourt Town Council has awarded the Public Works Shop Building #1 Roof Replacement Project to Tru-West Company Ltd. in the amount of $126,336.00 plus GST.

Work will begin in September on construction of a new entrance sign to the community along Highway 32 South.  The new sign will have the same aesthetics and provide a consistent look with community entrance signs located along Highway 43.

Whitecourt has awarded $2,730 in Vitalization Grant funding to United States Real Estate Corporation for a vitalization project located at 5033 – 52 Avenue.

National Coaches Week is September 21-29 and Whitecourt will be honouring local coaches throughout the week.  Community members are asked to nominate their favourite coach and let us know why they are so great by messaging Whitecourt through the official @TownofWhitecourt Facebook page or through #thankscoachWCT.  The deadline for submissions is Thursday, September 19, and those nominated will be entered into a prize draw.

Councillor Paul Chauvet will serve as Deputy Mayor from September 1 to December 31, 2019.
