Press Release - Whitecourt Town Council Update February 13, 2020

The Whitecourt Youth Advisory Committee will be hosting a Student Unity – Interschool Games Event on Thursday, February 27 at the JR’s Pressure Service Fieldhouse located in the Allan & Jean Millar Centre from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  This event gives students from both school divisions in grades 6 and 7 an opportunity to participate in interschool games where teams are not determined by school, but through chance placement.

Town Council reviewed information on the Whitecourt FireSmart program at the February 10 Regular Meeting, and it was noted that Whitecourt is a recognized leader of FireSmart in the province.

Town Council supported an Expression of Interest Application to the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA) for financial support in hosting an interagency training tabletop exercise in Whitecourt.  It is anticipated that this mock event would include emergency representatives from the Whitecourt region.

Town Council has approved a street closure request for the Canada Day Parade. This year’s parade will be held on Wednesday, July 1 starting at 11:00 a.m. in downtown Whitecourt.
