Press Release - Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Whitecourt March 25, 2020
As part of an ongoing effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all playground structures located in Town-owned parks within Whitecourt are closed effective immediately. Closures will be in effect until further notice.
The Town of Whitecourt understands that families are home and looking for ways to stay active. Residents are encouraged to utilize local parks and pathways, which remain open. Please follow social and physical distancing practices as recommended by the Province of Alberta.
The Province of Alberta has implemented new self-isolation guidelines. Per the new regulations, you must self-isolate for 14 days if you:
- recently returned from travel outside of Canada, even if feeling well (this means staying separated from anyone who did not travel with you, including household members),
- are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19,
- have been asked by a health care professional for another reason.
If you become sick, you must self-isolate for 10 days from the beginning of any symptoms or until you are feeling well, whichever takes longer.
- Symptoms include: dry cough, fever, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, runny nose, nasal congestion or a sore throat.
