Press Release - Whitecourt Town Council Update February 23, 2021
Whitecourt awarded $29,560 in funding to community organizations as part of the 2021 Family & Community Support Services Grant Program. The program provides assistance to community groups that plan to provide social programs that are preventive in nature to the community. 2021 recipients include:
- Community Lunch Box – $10,860 to assist with the Volunteer Coordinator, Recycling Coordinator, volunteer/board training and volunteer recruitment;
- McLeod River Primary Care Network - $2,500 to create pocket sized Community Resource Guides;
- Wellspring Family Resource & Crisis Centre - $3,000 for the “Us and Them” screening and workshop event;
- Soaring Eagle Support Services - $13,200 to assist with the Program Manager/Centre Coordinator.
The Town of Whitecourt will continue its participation in the Alberta Municipal Services Corporation (AMSC) Energy Program for natural gas until the end of 2026. The program provides the Town with an in-house retailing program that provides savings, flexibility and customization of pricing for natural gas for municipal facilities.
Whitecourt Town Council will host a workshop on March 16 to discuss the 2021 Strategic Plan.
Councillor Matt Connell will serve as Deputy Mayor from March 1 to June 30, 2021.
