Press Release - Whitecourt Town Council Update

Whitecourt will be hosting a live entertainment event at Rotary Park on August 14. The event will include musical performances and fireworks display.  Save the date, and watch for artist announcements the week of July 26.

The Communities in Bloom provincial judges will be touring Whitecourt on Friday, August 6 to rate our community in eight categories as part of the provincial competition.  Let us all do our part in showing the judges just how beautiful Whitecourt is!  The Whitecourt Communities in Bloom Committee requests your support in showcasing Whitecourt to the provincial judges, and asks that we all keep Whitecourt beautiful by making sure our yards are tidy, and by ensuring our green spaces and business storefronts are litter free.  Whitecourt is an incredible place to live, and the Committee wants to make sure that it is showcased at its best for this year’s competition.

Whitecourt will be applying to the Canada Community Revitalization Fund for $750,000 in funding for the extension of 50 Street and adjacent multi-use pathways from Whitecourt’s downtown core to Rotary Park. The project is identified in Whitecourt’s Sportfield Master Plan, and is included in the Town’s 20 Year Capital and Major Maintenance Plan.

Whitecourt Town Council received a quarterly financial report and overview of the impact of COVID-19 at the July 19 Regular Meeting.  Council also had the opportunity to review the updated 2021 Project List that is available for viewing on www.whitecourt.ca.
