Press Release - Whitecourt Town Council Update March 12, 2019

Congratulations to Tammy Knitter and Brooklyn Galliot for being selected as this year’s winners of the Mayor For A Day Initiative.  Sixteen submissions were received for this year’s program from Grade 6 students of Ecole St. Joseph School and Percy Baxter School.  The initiative promotes leadership opportunities in our community, and creates a greater understanding of local government for local youth.  Both Tammy and Brooklyn will be shadowing Mayor Maryann Chichak for part of the day on Monday, March 25.

As part of the year end process, Administration has updated the 2018 Project List with project status and costs.  The 2018 Project List includes 160 projects, and is available for viewing on www.whitecourt.ca  The 2019 Project List will be published for Council’s information once the final budget is approved in April 2019.

Council hosted a successful 2019 Budget Open House on March 6.  Thank you to those that attended and provided feedback for the 2019 Budget.  If you were unable to attend, the information displayed at the event is available on our website at www.whitecourt.ca (click on the “Government” heading).

Town Council has approved a street closure request for the Canada Day Parade.  This year’s parade will be held on Monday, July 1 starting at 11:00 a.m. in downtown Whitecourt.
