A Flood Watch remains in effect for the Athabasca River at Whitecourt; river levels have peaked and are expected to recede throughout the afternoon. As a safety precaution, the Mandatory Evacuation Order that was issued for Sagitawah RV Park will remain in place.
A Flood Watch remains in effect for the Athabasca River at Whitecourt, and river levels are expected to peak in the afternoon of July 3, 2020.
A Mandatory Evacuation Order has been issued for Sagitawah RV Park in Whitecourt. The Whitecourt RCMP and Town of Whitecourt officials are assisting with the evacuation, and providing additional information to evacuees regarding supports and accommodations available.
A Flood Watch on the Athabasca River remains in effect for the Whitecourt area; however, the Province has ended the Flood Watch for the McLeod River from Rosevear to Whitecourt. Water levels along the Athabasca River are expected to peak July 3.
Flood Watches are in effect for the McLeod River from Rosevear to Whitecourt, and the Athabasca River at Whitecourt. Water levels have not yet peaked, and peak flows are anticipated to be reached on July 3, 2020.
If the rainfall forecasts are correct, the Athabasca River could rise 2.0 metres and the McLeod River could rise 1.5 metres by noon on July 3, 2020. The public is requested to exercise caution when conducting activities in or around these rivers during this rainfall event.
Construction season is here and crews will be out in force in the coming weeks working to complete local road and other infrastructure projects.
