The Whitecourt Youth Advisory Committee will be hosting a Student Unity – Interschool Games Event on Thursday, February 27 at the JR’s Pressure Service Fieldhouse located in the Allan & Jean Millar Centre from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Sled Invasion, hosted by the Whitecourt Trailblazers Snowmobile Club, is scheduled February 14 to 16. The event, which will celebrate the Club’s 40th Anniversary, will include a snowmobile parade, freestyle show, family rally, and concert.
The Town of Whitecourt and Woodlands County have resumed intermunicipal collaboration discussions and have committed to several planning sessions through the upcoming months.
The Town of Whitecourt received grant funding from the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC), through the Taking Action to Manage Energy (TAME+) program, for several energy efficiency projects at Town recreational facilities.
Whitecourt RCMP received a complaint on April 30 of a suspicious item located in Rotary Park, where they, with the assistance of the Explosive Device Unit, deemed the item to be nonthreatening and removed the item.
As a safety precaution, public access to Rotary Park was closed during the investigation. Public access to the park was restored later that evening at approximately 7:00 p.m.
Whitecourt Town Council passed the Tax Rate Bylaw 1547 at the April 23 Regular Meeting of Council. Property owners can expect to receive combined assessment and taxation notices in mid-May, well ahead of the Friday, June 28 deadline.
Road Closures will be taking place on June 25 and 26 on a portion of 47 Street, and on Dahl Drive.
