Press Release - COVID-19 Update for Whitecourt May 31, 2021

As announced by the Province on May 26, Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan provides a three-stage road map to lifting health restrictions and safely getting back to normal.  The plan includes three stages based on vaccination thresholds and hospitalizations, and Alberta will enter Stage 1 on Tuesday, June 1.

  • Outdoor social gatherings, with distancing, increases up to 10 people.  Indoor social gatherings are still not permitted.
  • Outdoor patio dining can resume with a maximum of four people per table. 
  • Outdoor physical, performance and recreational activities are permitted with up to 10 distanced people, for all ages.
  • Retail can increase to 15% of fire code occupancy (must maintain ability to distance).
  • Personal wellness services can reopen, by appointment only.
  • Wedding ceremonies may have up to 10 people, including the officiant, bride/groom, witnesses and any photographers/videographers.  Receptions remain prohibited.
  • Distancing and masking requirements remain in effect.

In addition, the capacity limit for worship services increased to 15% of fire code occupancy as of May 28.

Allan & Jean Millar Centre resumes outdoor fitness classes

With this announcement, the Allan & Jean Millar Centre will be offering a variety of outdoor fitness classes.  Individuals can register online at https://rec.whitecourt.ca or by calling the Allan & Jean Millar Centre at 780-778-3637.

  • Outdoor Early Morning Bootcamp: 6:00-6:45am Mondays and Wednesdays (starts June 2)
  • Shred Express: 12:15 – 12:45pm Monday and Wednesdays (starts June 7)
  • Reps and Sets: 5:30-6:30pm Tuesdays and Thursdays (starts June 8)
  • Cyclepath (outdoor cycle): 9:30 – 10:15am Mondays (starts June 7)
  • Cyclepath (outdoor cycle): 9:30 – 10:15am Wednesdays (starts June 9)

Zoom classes and the Members Only Workouts through Facebook continue to be offered.

The Allan & Jean Millar Centre remains closed to the public under current public health restrictions.

Isolation and Quarantine Requirements for Vaccinated Albertans

The Government of Alberta has changed isolation and quarantine requirements for Albertans that partially or fully  vaccinated.

  • If you are fully-vaccinated* and are exposed to a COVID-19 case:
    • If you have no symptoms, you are not required to quarantine.
    • If you do have symptoms, you must isolate for 10 days and should get tested – your isolation can end early if you test negative.
  • If you are partially vaccinated* and are exposed to a COVID-19 case:
    • If you have no symptoms, you must quarantine for 10 days and should get tested.
    • Your quarantine can end early if you test negative on day 7 or later.
  • If you test negative before day 7, you must remain in quarantine and need a second negative test on day 7 or later to end quarantine.
  • If you do have symptoms, you must isolate and should get tested.
    • If you test negative before day 7, you must continue to quarantine (10 days total from exposure date).
    • If you test negative on day 7 or later and your symptoms have resolved, your quarantine can end.

*You are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving both doses in a 2-dose vaccine series, or 1 dose in a 1 dose vaccine series.  You are considered partially vaccinated 14 days after receiving the first dose in a 2-dose vaccine series.
