Whitecourt Town Council Update

Posted on:

A new Whitecourt Cemetery Master Plan has been adopted.  The new plan provides a conceptual layout of the cemetery to guide future growth and development.  The Plan was developed by researching community needs and future trends, and in consultation with the community.  A copy of the plan is available on www.whitecourt.ca/live/town-services/whitecourt-cemetery.

Over 55 tonnes of waste was disposed at the Whitecourt Regional Landfill during Whitecourt’s 2022 Free Clean Up Week.  The event was held over five days in May, and also included a “Take It or Leave It” event, as a way to encourage and support the annual spring clean up of properties.

Whitecourt Park Parties will be hosted at various locations throughout the community.  This new initiative uses a Block Party model, and includes a bbq and other activities to encourage community members to gather and get to know their neighbours.  The Park Parties will take place from 5:30 to 7:30pm on:

  • Wednesday, June 22 at Wedow Park (38 Wedow Drive)
  • Wednesday, July 20 at Athabasca Park (8 Togerson Drive)
  • Wednesday, August 24 at Pine Park (50 Pine Road)

Whitecourt’s annual Canada Day Celebrations will be held in downtown Whitecourt July 1.  Activities include a pancake breakfast, parade hosted by the Whitecourt District Agricultural Society, volleyball tournament, family activities and kids carnival, and live entertainment.  For all the details, visit www.whitecourt.ca or follow the Canada Day Celebration event page on Facebook.

Party In The Park is back this weekend in Rotary Park. The two-day event will be packed with music, art, food and fun.  For details visit www.whitecourt.ca or the Party In The Park Music Festival 2022 Facebook event page.
