Our organization currently has an opening for one permanent full-time Family Support Diversion Worker and one temporary full-time Family Support Diversion Worker within the Community Services Department to deliver services for our regional program.


As a part of the Family Support Program team, you will work closely with families, children, youth, agencies, and the community to provide in-home and community supports in the Whitecourt and regional areas outlined in our contract with Children’s Services.


Key duties include:

  • Individual and family support both in-person and by virtual means when suitable.
  • Developing strategies and recommendations to assist families with the supports and skills they require to function effectively in their home, family and community.
  • Providing referrals to psychologists and family therapists if required.
  • Overall case management; facilitating psychoeducational community groups and sessions on a variety of topics.
  • Facilitating parent education groups, and program reporting including evaluation and outcome measures.
  • Regional travel will be required for this position.

 

From the preferred applicant, we are seeking:

  • A degree, diploma, or certification in a Human Services discipline or equivalent experience and education;
  • Experience in family counseling;
  • Experience in group delivery and community programming;
  • The ability to work with a variety of agencies and partnerships;
  • Experience in community development and working in partnership with multiple organizations;
  • Experience in offering parent education programs;
  • Experience working with diverse populations; and,
  • Motivational Interviewing and Suicide Awareness Training are considered assets.

Duties will include:
- Establish and maintain positive and constructive relations with the public and all other contacts encountered on the job.
- Answer phones, greet the public, provide information and answer general inquiries.
- Act as secretary for the Municipal Planning Commission and Subdivision, and the Development Appeal Board, responsible for scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, recording minutes and preparing correspondence for these boards as required.
- Remain abreast of and maintain current and upcoming legislative requirements in relation to Planning
- Prepare, compose and compile routine documentation related to development and permits.
- Assist the public regarding cemetery – plots and payments.
- Administer and maintain the Town Vehicle logs.
- Provide coverage for other department areas during period of absences.
- Assume other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Director.


As a member of the Planning and Development Department, you will be working as a team to provide timely and accurate information to the public regarding permits and development information. You are an ideal candidate for this position if you are a self-motived individual and excel in a dynamic setting.


The following qualifications are required for this position:
- Completion of high school, supplemented by business college courses focusing on secretarial or administrative skills.
- Must display confidence in working with the general public.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft programs.
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to carry out work with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience in a related position would be an asset.

Duties include:

• Providing support as the primary contact for Allan & Jean Millar Centre financial and recreational software programs;
• Overseeing accounts receivable, credits on account and collections;
• Providing support to Managers with applications and final reporting of designated grants;
• Reconciling monthly reports between recreation and accounting software programs and electronic fund transfers;
• Completing year end audit reports as required;
• Other finance duties within the Community Services Department as required.

The successful applicant will have post-secondary accounting education (equivalent experience may be considered), as well as one to five years of experience in an accounting field, preferably in municipal government. Familiarity with Great Plains Diamond Municipal Software, 
Intelligenz Software, and Excel would be an asset.  A high degree of efficiency, accuracy and confidentiality is required.

As a Whitecourt Transit Driver you will operate a Whitecourt Transit vehicle with an established route and time schedule with a varying number of stops along the way. Drivers are responsible for collecting fares, responding to customer inquiries concerning transit information, and ensuring the safety of all customers. This position requires attentiveness, good judgment, safe driving habits, exceptional customer service, and an ability to deal with a variety of passengers. 

 Successful applicants will have:
Class 2 driver's licence;
• Clean driving record and experience driving bus;
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification;
• Air brakes endorsement required. 

Successful candidates must enjoy working with the public, must have above average inter-personal communications skills, and be able to maintain records and statistics on ridership. Our organization currently has an opening for a permanent part-time Foodbank Coordinator to work within our Community Services Department for 24 hours a week, reporting to the Manager of Family Community Support Services.

Key duties will include:
• Directly Supervise Foodbank Intake/Warehouse Worker.

• Complete client intakes prior to accessing the Food Bank.
• Keep demographic statistics of clients.
• Check I.D. and update files.
• Refer clients to other agencies.
• Order groceries and make delivery arrangements.
