This position works out of the Allan & Jean Millar Centre.
This dynamic position is responsible for the development of fun-filled recreation programs, services, and special events for the community; as well as ensuring that the Allan & Jean Millar Centre Fieldhouse is programmed and utilized to the fullest extent.
Key duties:
- Work as a member of the Allan & Jean Millar Centre team to promote and support exceptional guest services.
- Uphold Allan & Jean Millar Centre policies and procedures, ensuring safe practices.
- Identify and seek to meet the recreation needs of the community.
- Plan, implement and evaluate a variety of community and facility programs and special events.
- Assist with securing funding for some recreation events.
- Work as a member of the marketing team to promote recreation services and programs.
- Liaise with and provide support to community organizations with the goal of a comprehensive community recreation system.
- Hire, supervise, train, schedule and evaluate Program Leaders and Facility Monitors.
Qualifications include:
- A degree or diploma in Recreation Administration or related field or equivalent.
- 3 years supervisory experience.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with community development and developing and implementing community programs and special events.
- A high level of innovation, organizational skills and self-motivation.
- Knowledge of municipal operations, volunteer organizations, and recreation facility operations.

The Allan & Jean Millar Centre is a recreation facility that includes a field house, aquatic center, fitness centre, track, child play and mind areas, and meeting space. Our organization has an opening at the Allan & Jean Millar Centre for a casual Lifeguard/Instructor I.
Lifeguard/Instructors are responsible for the safety of guests, provision of exceptional customer service, teaching quality programs, and performing other related administration and cleaning duties at the Pembina Gas Infrastructure Aquatic Centre.
Duties for Lifeguard/Instructors include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring a safe and clean environment for all guests of the facility;
- Works as a member of the Allan & Jean Millar Centre team to promote and support exceptional guest experiences;
- Instruction of aquatic programs, and preparation of associated forms and records;
- Greet guests with the goal of creating a fun and encouraging atmosphere;
- Ensuring safety standards and procedures are followed by all pool users;
- Participation in all in-service and staff meetings;
- Preparation and recording of water tests;
- Completion of maintenance and administrative tasks.
Qualifications for an Instructor:
- Must be at least 15 years of age;
- Swim Instructor course Certification;
- Intermediate (Standard) First Aid Certificate and Level C CPR;
- Self-motivated and takes pride in a clean work space;
- Positive and encouraging attitude;
- Dynamic and outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal, diplomacy, and communication skills.
