Public Participation

How To Get Involved

You are invited to volunteer your time and experience by participating on a Council Committee. Help shape Whitecourt's future - serve the Town of Whitecourt and your fellow citizens. Share your knowledge and meet new colleagues.

Every fall, the Town of Whitecourt recruits citizens to fill volunteer positions on various boards and committees that provide Town Council with perspective and recommendations regarding important civic issues. Whitecourt is a diverse, growing town, and citizens are in the best position to provide input on our changing community needs.

Council Committees that include public appointments for the Town of Whitecourt include:

  • Communities In Bloom Committee
  • Community Services Advisory Board
  • Economic Development Committee
  • Health Professionals Attraction & Retention Committee
  • Municipal Planning Commission
  • Protective Services Committee
  • Subdivision and Development Appeal Board
  • Whitecourt Library Board
  • Youth Advisory Committee
  • Culture & Events Centre Sponsorship/Partnership Committee (Ad Hoc)
  • Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw Review Advisory Committee (Ad Hoc)

Public appointments to all of the above noted committees are advertised as terms expire. Look for notices advertising Council Committee opportunities on this website or in local papers.

The Town of Whitecourt encourages residents to get involved in the community by participating on one of our Council Committees. If you have questions about vacancies and application requirements please contact the Executive Assistant at 780-778-2273.
