Portion of Highway 43 Trail closed temporarily to allow for installation of new lights
Posted on:A portion of the Highway 43 Trail, from 51 Street to Memorial Point, will be closed to all pedestrian and bike traffic in order to install new pathway lighting.
- Friday, June 10 – The portion of the path will be closed between 7am and 6pm to complete site preparation activities.
- Monday, June 13 to Friday, June 24 – The portion of path will be closed and workers will be onsite between 7am and 6pm daily.
The trail closure site will be marked with signs and barricades.
Due to the location of the worksite, and nature of the work being completed, no pedestrian or bike traffic will be permitted in the work area. As such, community members are advised to use alternate routes that connect the valley and hilltop areas, such as the Dahl Drive Trail. For further information on the trail system, please refer to www.whitecourt.ca.
The lighting installation is part of a project that started last year that involved installation of decorative light standards along Memorial Point Trail. It also ties to a larger goal to enhance the overall trail network and increase the connectivity of the community. Illuminating the trails will enhance safety and night-time visibility for walkers, joggers and bikers.
The Town of Whitecourt recognizes that this is a well-utilized recreational trail in our community, and appreciates your patience and understanding.
