The Whitecourt Fire Department presented its 2021 Annual Fire Report to Whitecourt Town Council on February 28.

  • The Department logged its busiest year on record with 353 emergency responses.
  • Members logged 9,396 response and training hours.
  • Tower 1 (Aerial Platform Truck) was placed into service.
  • Recruited 11 new members to fill vacancies.

Whitecourt Town Council has scheduled a Special Meeting to discuss the 2022 Final Budget on April 13 at 3:30 p.m.

Whitecourt has endorsed the submission of a resolution to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) in support of the oil and gas industry.  The resolution calls on FCM to: urge the Government of Canada to promote and encourage consumption of Canadian oil and gas products over the use of imported resources; and, support development of a policy that requires oil and gas imported and consumed in Canada to meet the same stringent environmental, governance and social standards that Canadian producers must meet.  Whitecourt will be soliciting other municipalities to co-sponsor the resolution, which will be reviewed by the FCM Board of Directors in September 2022.
