Whitecourt Town Council Update - March 15, 2024

Posted on:

National Volunteer Week begins April 14, and Whitecourt has a variety of initiatives planned to recognize local volunteers.

  • Nominations will be accepted until April 8 for Whitecourt’s Volunteer Awards Program that includes five different award categories.  For full details on how you can nominate a local volunteer, visit the Whitecourt website.
  • As a way of saying thank you to community volunteers, the You’ve “Bean” Great event is returning April 16 from 7-10am at both Whitecourt Tim Hortons locations.   Volunteers can stop in to either Tim Hortons location to be rewarded with a free, large hot beverage.
  • A Lunch and Learn event focused on volunteer recruitment and retention will be held on April 18.  Details on how to register can be found on the Whitecourt website.

Follow the Whitecourt Facebook page for further updates on National Volunteer Week event details.

Whitecourt has allocated $3,500 in funding through the Sports Hosting Program to Whitecourt Minor Hockey to host the U18AA Provincial Championship event from March 29 to April 2, 2024. The Program provides support to community organizations hosting sporting events in the community, which in turn has a positive impact on the local economy.

Whitecourt has proclaimed June 15, 2024 as Lemonade Day.  Community Futures Yellowhead East is hosting the 2024 Lemonade Day event that teaches youth how to start own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand. Registration to the program is open until May 15, and further information can be found online at https://lemonadedday.org/northern-alberta
