Whitecourt Town Council Update

Posted on:

High flows on the Athabasca River this summer eroded a section of the river bank at Whitecourt’s Riverboat Park, at the confluence of the Athabasca and McLeod Rivers. The Town has contracted Roszko Construction to transport and place rock in and on the river bank at this location to minimize further bank loss.

Council has approved the development of a sportfield at Ecole St. Joseph School.

ALDECO Mechanical has been awarded the contract to supply a new dehumidifier at the Scott Safety Centre. The new unit will allow the facility to operate in a more efficient manner all year round.

Skate Jam ’22 is scheduled for October 1 from 1-4pm at the Whitecourt Skate Park. The event will feature demonstrations from semi-professional skaters from Edmonton House of Wheels, as well as an opportunity for local youth to showcase their skills.

Council has approved an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw to change the zoning at 5012 Caxton Street West to allow for Service Industrial (M-1) development.

Street closures in the downtown core have been approved for October 30, 2022 for the Trunk or Treat event that is being hosted by the Whitecourt & District Chamber of Commerce. Reminders of the closures will be posted closer to the event date; and, information on the 2022 Trunk or Treat event can be view on the Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
