Whitecourt's popular park space renamed Festival Park

Posted on:

Rotary Park has been rebranded as Festival Park, proudly supported by the Rotary Club of Whitecourt.

The directive for the name change and rebranding to Festival Park came directly from Rotary International following changes to its branding and logo rules for property and sites that are not wholly owned or controlled by a Rotary Club. The Rotary Club of Whitecourt discussed the change with its members, and were involved in choosing the new park name.

“The Rotary Club of Whitecourt is proud of the support and commitment we have to make Whitecourt a great place to live,” said Nevis Prufer, Foundation Chair and Assistant Governor of the Rotary Club of Whitecourt. “Our Club has an amazing continuing partnership with the Town of Whitecourt on this as well as many other town projects.”

A new park logo has been created and will be used to promote Festival Park. Signage for the park space will be changed throughout the coming months.

“The Rotary Club has been involved with the development of this park space for years. The Club remains a valued partner and will be recognized as a supporter of the park space,” added Mayor Tom Pickard. “We appreciate the Rotary Club’s involvement in determining the new name for the Park, and feel it reflects what this park is in our community. It is Whitecourt’s most popular outdoor recreation destination, and home to numerous outdoor festivals, gatherings and
celebrations.”

The Town of Whitecourt is preparing to open the water features at Festival Park for the 2023 summer season in May. Information on hours of operation for the Whitecourt River Slides and Splash Park, as well as details on other park amenities, is available at www.whitecourt.ca/play/festivalpark.
